This section aims to offer answers to the most common questions and queries relating to the shipping of units with Paragon Trading.

  1. How do I book my vehicles for transport with Paragon?
    In most cases your agent in Japan will arrange this. Alternatively e-mail: Minoru.Hirata@ISS-Shipping.com with your request for information and a booking form.

  2. How will I know when my vehicles arrive?
    You will receive notification and an invoice by fax approx. 2 weeks before ships discharge at your port. You will subsequently receive our invoice and payment & collection instructions in the post. We do suggest close to the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) you keep an eye on our website for updates, or contact your local Inchcape or customs agent.

  3. How can I pay my shipping bill?
    You will receive a freight and local charges invoice from Paragon with payment instructions outlined. Please note freight charges are billed and must be paid in US dollars. This can be paid by Electronic Transfer (please allow up to 4 days to reach our account) or dollar bank draft lodged with are agent. Local charges (Terminal Handling Charges) can be paid in local currency by cheque or as outlined on invoice.

  4. Can I pay my freight in local currency?
    Unfortunately at present, Paragon is not in a position to facilitate this, and must insist on dollar payments for freight charges as per invoice. However in exceptional circumstances this can be arranged prior to collection with Nicola on call +353 1 8400615

  5. Can I pay by cash or credit card?
    Our local agents are not in a position to accept freight or local charges by credit card or cash. Local charges may be paid by credit card by phone, please call +353 1 8400615 two working days prior to collection.

  6. Do I need to arrange marine insurance?
    Paragon gives all it's customers free comprehensive Marine Insurance to cover cost of vehicle and shipping charges.

  7. When can I collect my vehicles?
    It is important that you have completed all the following steps before collecting your vehicles:
    1. Has your freight payment been received as cleared funds by Paragon Trading?
      We suggest you contact Inchcape UK or Paragon Dublin to ensure your funds have been received prior to collection.
    2. Have you surrendered your original Bill of Lading (B/L)?
      Your original B/L must be surrendered to Inchcape Japan, Inchcape UK, Paragon Dublin or a pre-accepted customs clearance agent. Cars under no circumstances will be released without presentation of B/L.
    3. Have you paid your Terminal Handling Charges (THC's)?
      THC's must be paid as instructed on invoice.
    4. Have you customs cleared your vehicles and received your customs entry number?
      All imported vehicles on arriving in the UK or Ireland need to have VAT & Duty paid at point of entry. This can be arranged by a customs clearance agent on your behalf for a small fee.
    5. Have you left your car in the port for more than 5 days since the ship discharged?
      If so, you are liable for quay rent at a rate of £10 per car per day. No vehicles will be released until all quay rent has been paid in full

  8. How much will it cost to ship my vehicle ?
    Shippment is charged per cubic metre, please check with your agent for the current available price. We have compiled a list ofdimensions and volumes of the most commonly shipped vehicles to help calculate costs, please click here for further information.
